COMMITTEE SKILLS CERTIFICATE PRESENTATION

Val Bennett and Bert Swaine not present to accept their certificates.

David Church was presented with his by Amanda.

Chris Helm gave out literature on the course, copy attached, and highlighted some of the points within the handout.

Time and venues were an issue and it was requested that the course should be made more accessible to upper valley groups.

AMANDA GARRAD

Younger Holmes Development, Hipperholme leased to Pennine for 22years.

Shared Ownership. Market Rented. 22 homes at a higher rent and at the top limit of market rent levels. 11,000 social rented on the list others self funded for repairs. Anyone can apply to rent these properties, Pennine see it as a way of helping more people attain affordable housing.

Questions asked. Are Pennine taking on too much and is there a bond required?

Amanda replied. No, vetting & policies to be decided by Pennine and advised that Smart Move do give help with bonds.

Vision for 2012. Amanda gave out information handouts.

A need to clarify on cost of water meters.

Condition of entrances to flats an issue. Some work to do to priorities.

More Green Champs needed (how do we save money)? How much waste and re-cycling?

Bill Stafford offered to contact the council on the issue of kerb side collections.

The federation represents 15,000 households.

There are 5 voids at Elland Lane, 2 are under offer, Amanda feels it is too early to draw a line under. Review in 3 months see to see what happens.

Rita McWhirter asked the chair to read out a letter on behalf of T.A.R.A. A copy of the letter is attached.

Amanda responded by saying Valley View was a flagship for Pennine and that they had to agree to differ as it was considered to be high spec at Heptonstall and as the building work has started it is irrelevant to keep bringing up this difference of opinion on the types of properties that should have been built or re-furbished.

Lorna from Shade tenants association asked about troughing, they have been waiting 3 years for them cleaning and had had a series of excuses. Amanda would look into it.

Amanda concluded by stating that Pennine want to be the best landlord, priorities their services for example: Caretakers, staff on phones, repetitive repairs and improve the standard of repairs.

Val Morris circulated the wording for the Tenant participation. It is not a new compact rather an update with added amendments.
